Ski Austria 2028
Hochkrimml · Zillertal Arena | 11th–19th February 2028 (Spring Half Term)
Adventure. Friendships. Amazing memories.
Overview
For many years, Liskeard School & Community College has offered students the chance to experience the thrills of a skiing trip, and we're excited to be returning to the slopes for February 2028. This is the trip of a lifetime — six days of skiing, new skills, incredible scenery and unforgettable memories, all for £1,700.
We recognise the financial pressures many families are facing, and we hope this trip offers real value: everything from travel and lift passes to full board and insurance is included in the price.
Where we're going
We're returning to the ski resort of Hochkrimml, Austria, last visited in February 2026. Hochkrimml is a small mountain village made up of three communities — Filzsteinalm, Duxeralm and Silberleiten — with hotels, restaurants and shops, and it's the ideal gateway to the Zillertal Arena ski area.
The ski area at a glance:
- 489km of piste across the wider Zillertal Valley (150km within the Zillertal Arena itself)
- Ski height range: 1,200m–3,250m
- 177 ski lifts
- 37 blue, 44 red and 10 black runs — suitable for all abilities
- Approximately 70% snow-making coverage
- Closest glacier: Hintertux
Where we're staying
We'll be staying at the Jugendgästehaus Gerlosplatte, located at 1,700m directly on the slopes — true doorstep skiing, with the Duxer and Filzstein lifts within walking distance.
Rooms are modern, with light wooden bunk beds, a seating area and private facilities. The hotel also has a great range of facilities to enjoy off the slopes, including a sauna and steam bath, sports hall, table tennis, darts, billiards, table football, air hockey, a disco, a trampoline room, a home cinema, and Wi-Fi in public areas.
What's included
- Return travel by luxury coach

- 6 days' ski, boot and pole hire, including helmets

Ski school
Our 6-day course includes 5 hours of instruction per day with English-speaking instructors from the official local ski school. Pupils are expected to ski every day; please bear the physical demands of the sport in mind before applying for a place, as it isn't possible for pupils to simply sit out a session or catch up later if they miss lessons.
