Year 10 Geographers Explore the Rainforest at the Eden Project
Year 10 students recently swapped the classroom for the tropics when they visited the Eden Project as part of their GCSE Geography course.
The group spent the day inside Eden's Tropical Rainforest Biome, working alongside Eden scientists to carry out their own fieldwork. Equipped with specialist instruments, students measured light levels, humidity and temperature at different points in the biome, building up a detailed picture of how conditions change within a rainforest environment.
The learning doesn't stop there. Back in school, students will compare their findings with a real rainforest in French Guiana, using data collected by students from the University of Exeter. This gives them the chance to see how Eden's biome measures up to the real thing, and to develop the data analysis skills that are so important at GCSE.
It was a fantastic day of hands-on learning, and the students had a brilliant time. A big thank you to the team at the Eden Project for hosting us and sharing their expertise.
