Science Week Wind Turbine Challenge Inspires Young Innovators

Over the course of two weeks, concluding last Thursday, science technicians at Liskeard School ran a special Science Week club for a group of Year 7 and Year 8 students.
As part of the programme, students were set the challenge of researching, designing, and building their own wind turbines. The project encouraged them to explore renewable energy concepts while developing practical skills in design, construction, and problem-solving.
The completed turbines, showcased below, reflect a wide range of creative approaches. While some designs were fully operational and others remained works in progress, all students demonstrated enthusiasm, perseverance, and teamwork throughout the process.
To recognise their efforts, every participant received a prize, celebrating not only the final outcome but also their engagement and commitment. Most importantly, students thoroughly enjoyed the experience, gaining valuable insight into scientific investigation and engineering in a fun and supportive environment.
