Headteacher Letter to Parents/Carers regarding Industrial Action - 21.04.23

Dear Parents and Carers

You may be aware that strike action has been announced by one national Teaching Union, the NEU. This strike action is related to national disputes with the Government about pay.

Strike action affecting Liskeard School has been called on the following days:

27th April
2nd May

The laws surrounding strike action mean that staff are not required to let the school know if they are planning to take part until the day of the strike; therefore, we will decide at the start of the day how many students we can safely have in school on that day.  Please see below a summary of our current plans which apply to both days. If there are any changes, we will let you know as soon as possible.

Depending on our ability to open safely, we intend to be open for Year 11, 12 and 13 to provide the best continuity for students preparing for public examinations.

Due to the impact on staffing, the school will close on 27th April and 2nd May for most students in Year 7, 8, 9 and 10.

The ARC will be open for all students who currently attend this provision.

Students in affected Year groups will be expected to work at home on this day. Links to work and resources will be published on Satchel One (Show My Homework)
https://www.satchelone.com/login.

If you are a critical worker and unable to make alternative childcare arrangements for the day, we may be able to offer a limited number of places to students in Year 7, 8, 9 and 10. A separate form will follow for you to fill in.

If you have any questions, please do contact us using our main enquiries email address.

Yours faithfully

Dan Wendon
