Headteacher Letter to Parents/Carers - 02.01.24

Dear Parents, Carers and Families,

I would like to take this early opportunity to wish you a very Happy New Year. I sincerely hope that you had a restful and rewarding break over the Christmas period, and we are all very much looking forward to welcoming students back to school tomorrow. I remain incredibly impressed by the excellent politeness, resilience and community spirit shown by students at the end of last term, and I am so excited to continue our journey of academic excellence with inclusivity for all in 2024.

Site update and works affecting catering arrangements

We have been working hard over the holidays to put in place additional measures to support the highest standards of hygiene and safety across the site. Students may notice additional secure bait boxes and seagull and vermin-proof waste bins being installed. We are grateful to our students who work together for a litter-free site by using our bins appropriately. In addition, there will be health and safety and building contractors on site over the coming days. As a result of these works, we will have slightly reduced serving areas for at least the rest of this week. We hope to be back to full capacity by Monday 8th January but will update you at the earliest opportunity if this changes. All of our normal meals, snacks and drinks will be served as usual. However, there may be longer waiting times, so please do arrange packed lunches or snacks with your child for this week if that would be more convenient.

Attendance

Please remember that school attendance really matters! We expect excellent attendance from all of our students and would like to continue to thank you for all of your support in helping students to attend school punctually every day. Do contact the Attendance Team by emailing attendance@liskeard.net if you would like any advice or support.

Uniform

We are so proud of the way that students have responded to our high expectations around uniform. We have a large stock of spare and alternative uniform and want to do everything we can to support students to be included in our community by wearing their uniform with pride. If your child has been loaned uniform, please do encourage them to bring it back to The Hub or drop it into Reception.

Key Dates:

  • 12th January – 6th Form Taster Day for existing Year 11 students
  • 18th January – Year 9 Options evening

Yours faithfully,

Dan Wendon,
