Letter to Parents/Carers - Industrial Action
Dear parents and families
There is ongoing industrial action related to national disputes with the Government about pay. Strike action affecting Liskeard School is planned by the National Education Union on the following days:
The laws surrounding strike action mean that staff are not required to let the school know if they are planning to take part beforehand, therefore we will decide at the start of the day how many students we can safely have in school on that day. If there are any changes to the plans below, we will let you know as soon as possible.
Depending on our ability to open safely, we intend to be open on 15th and 16th March for Year 11, 12 and 13, to provide the best continuity for students preparing for public examinations. In addition, we intend be open on:
15th March for Year 7 students in the following tutor groups: 7L, 7I, 7S, 7K.
16th March for Year 7 students in the following tutor groups: 7E, 7A, 7R.
You can confirm your child’s tutor group by checking on Class Charts or alternatively by contacting the school.
Due to the impact on staffing, the school will close on 15th March and 16th March for most students in Year 8, 9 and 10. The ARC will be open for all students who currently attend this provision.
Students in affected Year groups will be expected to work at home on this day. Links to work and resources will be published on Satchel One (Show My Homework) https://www.satchelone.com/login.
If you are a critical worker and unable to make alternative childcare arrangements for the day, we may be able to offer a limited number of places to students in Year 7, 8, 9 and 10. Please could you fill in the form here to book a place in school: Strike Action - Request for a School Place - Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March 2023 by 9.00am on Tuesday 14h March. You will be contacted by email to confirm whether a place can be offered.
