Heads Letter to Parents/Carers - 28.06.23

Dear Parents and Carers

There is on-going industrial action related to national disputes with the Government about pay.

Strike action affecting Liskeard School is planned by the National Education Union on the following days:

  • 5th July
  • 7th July

The laws surrounding strike action mean that staff are not required to let the school know if they are planning to take part beforehand; therefore, we will decide at the start of the day how many students we can safely have in school on that day. If there are any changes to the plans below, we will let you know as soon as possible.

Our plans will be as follows:

  • Depending on our ability to open safely, we intend to be open for Year 7 and Year 12 on 5th July
  • The school will be open to students in Year 10 and Year 12 on 7th July
  • Due to the impact on staffing, the school will close on 5th July for most students in Year 8, 9 and 10; and for most students in Year 7, 8, and 9 on 7th July.

The ARC will be open for all students who currently attend this provision.

Students in affected Year groups will be expected to work at home on this day. Links to work and resources will be published on Satchel One (Show My Homework) https://www.satchelone.com/login.

If you are a critical worker and unable to make alternative childcare arrangements for the day, we may be able to offer a limited number of places to students in Year 7, 8, 9 and 10. Please could you fill in the form here to book a place in school: Strike Action - Request for a School Place: Wednesday 5 July and Friday 7 July 2023 by 9.00 am on Tuesday, 4h July. You will be contacted by email to confirm whether a place can be offered.

If you have any questions, please do contact us using our main enquiries email address: enquiries@liskeard.net

Yours faithfully
