Astronomy

Curriculum Intent - Astronomy

The GCSE Astronomy course is an amazing opportunity to explore our natural fascination with the heavens. The curriculum aims to build the picture of exactly what is going on in the cosmos, from our own planet and local neighbourhood to the furthest and darkest regions of the Universe. The course also lays the foundations for the fundamental skills needed by every astronomer – how to observe the stars, planets and other bodies – and gives opportunities for students to stargaze and develop these skills. By the end of the course, our students should be astronomers capable of navigating and observing the night sky and have a richer understanding of our place in it.
